One of D’banjs vision is to bring Def Jam Records down to Africa. Def Jam is an American record label focused primarily on hip-hop and urban music, owned by Universal Music Group. Mercury Music Group (D’banj’s UK label) operates as Def Jam UK.

D’banj with the influence of Mercury Records (Def Jam UK) has fulfilled his dream by starting Def Jam Africa and as the president he’s been recruiting/signing recommended artistes; hip-hop, African rap, African Rnb music, Gospel. Nigeria’s fastest rising pop singer David Adeleke also known as Davido will be the first to be signed followed by others, maybe MI Abaga.
